- Title
U.S. Double-Dip Recessions: Do Data Revisions and Data Sources Matter?
- Authors
Findlay, David W.
- Abstract
This article examines the impact of data revisions and data sources on the identification of double-dip recessions (DDR) in the United States (U.S.). The authors discuss the GDP revision process and how it can affect the classification of different types of U.S. recessions. They use the Kyer and Maggs methodology to analyze GDP data from different sources and find that data revisions and sources can influence the identification of DDR. The study also highlights the importance of re-examining past classifications of U.S. recessions based on revised data.
