- Abstract
The objective of this paper is to compare personality differences among sportsmen and those who do not practice sports, using the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16 PF). Nonetheless, differences in gender and age are taken into consideration. The sample includes 278 individuals between 14 and 49 years of age. For the majority of the factors, the results show statistically significant differences among those who practice and those who do not practice sports. Substantially, it is pointed out that those who practice sports show higher scores in the following factors: Warmth, Emotional Stability, Dominance, Liveliness, Rule Consciousness, Social Boldness, Sensitivity, Vigilance, Abstractedness, Privateness, Apprehension, Openness to Change, Self Reliance, Perfectionism, and Tension. In like manner, important differences are noticed if individuals' ages and gender are taken into account.
