- Abstract
The article discusses research on Whipple's disease as a rare cause and late diagnosis of nephropathy. It references a study by Jos N. M. Barendregt and colleagues, published in the August 29, 2008 issue of "NDT Plus." The researchers studied the case of a 42-year-old woman with myalgias, sore throat and fever. She also has arthralgias that caused her knees to swell. They found that early diagnosis and adequate treatment of Whipple's disease are essential in preventing the development of secondary amyloidosis.
