- Abstract
This article discusses a rare case of benign intracranial hypertension (BIH) caused by unilateral thrombosis of the dominant internal jugular vein. The patient, a 33-year-old woman with polycystic ovarian syndrome, experienced neck pain and blurred vision. Imaging tests revealed thrombosis in the right internal jugular vein. The patient underwent treatment including anticoagulant therapy and a cerebrospinal fluid diversion procedure, which successfully resolved the thrombosis. The article highlights the importance of considering internal jugular vein thrombosis as a potential cause of BIH and discusses effective treatment options. Two related articles explore the outcomes and risk factors associated with internal jugular vein thrombosis, as well as the connection between pseudotumor cerebri and jugular vein thrombosis in lung cancer patients.
