- Abstract
The article focuses on the coding and classification of data structures and management under medical informatics. The three types of clinical data include text-based alphanumeric data, medical images and recorded physiological signals. Genomic data is the encoded information that can help in clinical diagnosis and treatment. The characteristics of medical data are also explained. The article also describes electronic patient records and management through the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM).
