- Title
Industry wary of NIH consultancy moratorium.
- Authors
Fox, Jeffrey L.
- Abstract
The article reports on one-year moratorium proposed by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). This new measure can affect as many as 60 consulting agreements, but not the broader NIH-industry interactions that are based on cooperative R&D agreements. Aside from the announcement to halt all consulting with industry, NIH officials are providing little new information about why they plan to impose such an albeit temporary ban. The announcements from leaders at NIH are getting mixed reactions from scientists and administrative staff there, and in some cases those reactions are accompanied by confusion.
