- Abstract
As technology innovation transitions from computers and electronics to nanotechnology and molecular engineering, countries and regions are working to establish themselves as global nano-technology innovation epicenters and reap the potential economic benefits for decades to come. The patent literature pertaining to nanotechnology has been analyzed to begin identifying where these innovation epicenters are emerging, both on the global scale and regionally within the United States. Further, the analysis illustrates that nanotechnology is pervasive in a multitude of sectors and innovation epicenters may be more widespread and specialized than in other technological revolutions.
