- Abstract
The article discusses the Arab Spring uprisings in 2011 in places such as Bahrain relation to internal self-determination, popular sovereignty, and the rights of citizens to choose their systems of governance. Democratic reform protests are addressed, along with humanitarian interventions and the right to a liberal democracy. A Responsibility to Protect international legal doctrine is examined, as well as the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty's 2001 report.
