The article discusses a study conducted to test if thigh-length graduated compression stockings (GCSs) prevent deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in patients with recent ischemic heart stroke. The results indicate that GCSs did not reduce risk for proximal DVT or other measures of venous thromboembolism and also showed increased skin complications.
