- Abstract
An essay is presented which focuses on the philosophical analysis of the novel "The Torments of Love" by Helisenne de Crenne by unpacking the metaphysical implications of de Crenne's puzzling theory of unlivable love. Topics include the de Crenne's theory stating that there is no such thing as selfpresent amorous experience and that even if there were, it would never be realized in the actual world, and the "The Torments" stated to theorize loves as unlivable.
