- Title
Quemoy and Matsu: A Historical Footnote Revisited.
- Authors
Norris, Robert B.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the condition of Chinese islands Quemoy and Matsu, which were the subject during the presidential debates in the U.S. It notes the debate of Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard Nixon on the U.S. involvement during the invasion of two islands by Taiwan communists, in which the issue became an important factor for Kennedy's victory during election. It cites that the islands were still under Taiwan territory and had become tourists' destinations.
