- Abstract
The article discusses the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, political advertising laws, and the regulation of knowingly false campaign speech in the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court's (USSC's) ruling in the 2012 case United States v. Alvarez. The USSC's decision regarding the nation's Stolen Valor Act is addressed, along with the legal implications of disseminating false information in an attempt to promote or defeat a political candidate or a ballot initiative.
