- Abstract
The article presents a study which explored various uses of footage documenting the Nazis' destruction of the Czechoslovakian village of Lidice during World War II. Topics cited include debates about where and how film documents of Lidice were used and shown in the late 1940s, the contemporary attitudes toward the role of documentary footage of violence in a society, and a discussion of documentary film in terms of its form and the roles it should play in postwar society.
