- Title
A HIGH-GAIN SPEECH WORKSHOP.
- Authors
Reeves, Clyde E.
- Abstract
This article offers a look at a speech workshop that was held at the University of Mississippi in 1960. The workshop would be applicable to any group desiring to prepare its members to defend or attack some proposed policy or action. Businessmen, members of the labor union educational committees, representatives of industries, public relations men for the professions, political aspirants, and even lodge and club members would all find the workshop beneficial. It differs from the typical workshop in which a panel of experts does most of the talking while the workshoppers themselves do most of the listening but get little of the benefits of thinking on their feet and orally expressing their ideas and reactions except in brief question-and-answer periods that as often as not do not materialize.
