- Abstract
The article discusses a court case on the Department of Energy's claim that the eventual disposal of TRUM from Hanford to WIPP is under the exemption in the WIPP Land Withdrawal Amendment Act of 1996. The court looks at the claimed exemption which includes its plain language, nature, statutory context and legislative history. Consequences of the court's decision include the removal of drums of TRUM from its burial locations at Hanford, followed by assessment and its final disposal at WIPP.
