The article expresses the author's view on the article "Science Fiction and the German Democratic Republic," by Horst Heidtmann, which he considers as the first full-length study of the development of science fiction in the German Democratic Republic. He shares that it therefore introduced novels, stories, and writers which are unfamiliar to the German readers. It also shows the transformation of the country's social system which are featured in other books.
