- Authors
Shafir, Nir
- Abstract
The article provides information on the descriptions made by Damascene scholar Abd al-Ghanī al-Nābulusī on the Roman ruins of Baalbek, a small city in Lebanon. Topics discussed include reason that early Roman modern European travelers were able to start perceiving Baalbek's Roman origins, reason it is difficult to ascertain the existence of antiquarianism as an intellectual project in the premodern Middle East, and Nābulusī's approach to antiquity.
