- Abstract
The article reports on educational research conducted in a fifth grade classroom which explored the use of new technologies and computer skills as part of a reading workshop. Based on the transactional theory of reader response forwarded by American literary critic and educator Louise Rosenblatt, research was conducted using online e-texts and an online message board. The students were encouraged to engage in literature discussions with other students as a way of broadening their understanding of the reading material.
