A literary criticism of nineteenth-century Englishman Thomas Rodick's letter to the Earl of Lonsdale in Westmoreland, England is presented. It discusses how the letter provides insight into why Lord Lonsdale loaned money to the poet Isabella Lickbarrow. Lickbarrow's Quaker background is discussed in relation to her Unitarian family members, along with the potential marriage between Lickbarrow and Rodick.
