- Title
Paul Zech's Exotic Travels in South America.
- Authors
Daviau, Donald G.
- Abstract
The article examines Paul Zech's diaries of the travels he claimed to have made throughout South America. In the aggregate these informative and entertaining writings, a combination of Dichtung und Wahrheit, would have provided an excellent overview of the life, landscapes and history of the major countries for German readers in the 1930s, but for unknown reasons they were never published. That Zech did not personally visit all the places he describes may reflect on him but does not discredit the works. These highly readable texts still possess value for their portrayal of conditions in South America at that time and serve as important sources for anyone who wants to fully understand Paul Zech.
