- Abstract
The article focuses on the issues and trials related to the need of improvements in safety in mining industries with reference to the Massey Upper Branch Mill coal mine explosion in 2010. It further discusses the safety violations according to the U.S. Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) which includes infractions and unventilated combustible methane. It also focuses on the enforcements by MSHA on the injunctive relief provisions and measures to improve safety.
