- Abstract
The article examines the expression of NG2-positive (NG2+) cells during optic neuritis in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model of multiple sclerosis (MS). Results of luxol fast blue LFB staining demonstrated the presence of myelin sheaths and eventual demyelination on day 20. Findings revealed mild and severe axonal degeneration, the increasing number of NG2+ cells, the absence of double-labeled cells, and a decrease in the number of PDGFαR marker cells after the onset of optic neuritis.
