- Title
A PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE PHYTOPLANKTON IN LAKE SARAH (NEW ZEALAND).
- Authors
Flint, E.A.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a preliminary study of the phytoplankton found in Lake Sarah, New Zealand. Macrophytes were distributed according to the type of the substratum rather than the depth of water in the lake. In Lake Sarah, Isoetes grow in the rocky part of the shallow water, while Chara and Nitella were found in the deeper part of the water. Phytoplanktons were collected by pouring large volume of water through a small tow net. It also discusses the algaes found in the plankton of Lake Sarah including Asterionella gracillima, Botryococcus Braunii, and Volvox aureus.
