- Abstract
The polyphonic narrative of Alan Ball's True Blood appears as a process of integration of vampires and other supernatural species, whose perspective is given. While exchange of blood already challenges the boundary between human and non-human characters, it is through the hybridization of viewpoint that this permeability is the most vividly portrayed. This article aims to show how the use of viewpoint in True Blood both promotes a posthuman ideal, whereby all species become one hybridized organism subsuming differences, and at the same time presents this ideal as an illusion, pointing to the limits of post-race ideology. Though subjectivities are portrayed as permeable, the preference for multiple viewpoints also implies a rejection of any unified perspective. It rather evinces a desire to convey the complexity of any individual perception, providing a multi-layered approach to draw a compelling picture of the intersectionality of human experience.
