- Abstract
Introduction: Environmental degradation at a global level has culminated in a debate on the need to preserve the environment. Based on this, Environmental Education seeks to promote awareness and awareness among the population regarding the conscious use of environmental resources, seeking ways to reduce the impact on the various ecosystems on the planet. At school, he has been problematizing the relationships between environment and society, looking for ways to modify the socio-environmental vision of students, so that they act as modifiers of social reality. Objective: To hold a recycled paper workshop for teenagers enrolled in the 6th year of Elementary School in the city of Imperatriz - MA, with the aim of investigating its effectiveness as a facilitator in the teaching of Environmental Education. Methodology: Pre- and post-intervention questionnaires were administered to develop the research. The interventions were carried out with 38 students enrolled in the 6th year of Elementary School, with ages ranging from 10 to 13 years old. Initially, a conversation circle was held covering topics about environmental preservation and factors that can influence this topic and during the conversation the students were encouraged to participate actively. The workshop for producing recycled paper used paper beaten with water and mounted in wooden molds to dry in the sun. After drying the recycled paper, two interventions were carried out: the production of identifiers for selective collection cans and the production of designs on environmental preservation. Conclusion: The interventions showed student engagement in the production and use of recycled paper, some students produced their own paper at home and presented the result to the monitors. The pre- and post-intervention questionnaires indicate that the activities carried out achieved the expected objectives. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the application of workshops for Environmental Education is efficient in raising students' awareness of the need for environmental preservation and that the methodology applied was effective in increasing students' knowle.
