- Abstract
The article presents a study which aims to determine whether adding cancer antigen (CA) 125 measurement to ultrasound imaging performed by an experienced examiner for discriminating benign and malignant adnexal lesions improves diagnostic performance. The study notes deterioration in diagnostic performance when CA 125 was used as a second-stage test after ultrasound test. The study shows that regardless of examiner's confidence adding CA 125 does not improve diagnostic performance.
