- Abstract
The aim of this paper was to apply the recent indicators of regularity and chaos in the case of double pendulum system. First the physical system is introduced and the Lagrangean equations of motion are derived. Then we have computed the First Lyapunov Indicator (FLI), Dynamic Lyapunov Indicator (DLI) and Smaller Alignment Index (SALI) in three cases (periodic, quasi-periodic and chaotic orbits) and have compared the results with those indicated by consacrated tools: Poincare section of surface, largest Lyapunov indicator, time series curves and phase-plane projections. Because of the excellent agreement between all these indicators, we should conclude that the use of new indicators helped us to decide if an orbit is ordered or chaotic.
