The article discusses the perceived lack of women in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and in the field of oceanography. Given reasons behind the situation include a lack of adequate facilities for women aboard the research vessel of the institution. The views of several staff members, such as meteorologist A. H. Woodcock and oceanographer J. B. Hershey, on the issue are presented.
