- Abstract
The article discusses cases of cholera outbreak in the Dominican Republic and Florida in 2010 and offer guidelines for physicians on the management of travel-related cases. Suspected cases in the Dominican Republic were defined as profuse watery diarrhea as death among people with an epidemiologic link to a laboratory-confirmed case. In Florida, symptoms reported include abdominal pain, vomiting and lethargy. All cases were confirmed as toxigenic V. cholerae O1, serotype Ogawa, biotype E1 Tor and matched the strain from the Haiti outbreak.
