- Authors
Tajiri, Yoshiki
- Abstract
An essay is presented in which the author reflects on the connection between pain of living and the associated features of everyday life by his reading of Irish playwright Samuel Beckett's play "Happy Days." The author mentions that he first compares how everyday life is represented in the play with that of Harold Pinter's play "The Birthday Party." It further states that he finally explores the uniqueness of "Happy Days" by referring to Emmanuel Levinas's book "Existence and Existents."
