- Abstract
The article examines the impact of the literary afterlife of the twelfth-century narrative poems called lais by poet Marie de France on authors in the later middle ages in England. It explores the significance of the lais for the fourteenth-century authors' reception and inspiration and their potential to merge elements from these lais as part of a literary collection. It presents examples of de France's works that represent literary traditions which left marks on his work.
