- Title
Analogies, Homologies and the Body Economic.
- Authors
Finn, Margot
- Abstract
The author discusses the depiction of the link between fiction and economic thought in Catherine Gallagher's book "The Body Economic: Life, Death and Sensation in Political Economy and the Victorian Novel." She focuses on the methodological choices that tend to limit the book's purview. The limitations include the disembodied character of the book, the narrow spectrum of the texts on which Gallagher's analysis of inter-textuality rests, and the fundamental problem of intellectual history.
