- Abstract
The article reports on a historical finding relevant to the field of industrial organization. The author provides information regarding the discovery of a Chinese rice bowl in an ancient imperial tomb. It is suggested that the Imperial Rice Bowl, which was manufactured in a government workshop, provides a glimpse into early manufacturing processes and production methods. Management controls used by the manufactures of the bowl to ensure product quality are also discussed. The craftsmen who manufactured the bowl are also mentioned.
