- Title
Globalizing Hanjian: The Suzhou Trials and the Post-World War II Discourse on Collaboration.
- Authors
Zanasi, Margherita
- Abstract
This article examines the significance of the Suzhou Trials in post-war China and how the experience of France influenced the proceedings. France was forced to confront its legacy of collaboration with the enemy and consequently constructed a simplistic patriotism vs. treason narrative as a way to frame their experiences. China adopted this narrative despite the very different cultural and historical factors. The author uses these instances to analyze the issue of collaboration and how it quickly became globalized.
