- Abstract
The article reveals the spreading of the images depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary's life story in GDL (Grand Duchy of Lithuania) in the 17th-18th centuries. First, the predominant iconographic types of this period are established. Second, the article discusses the most important cycles of wall and easel painting and the problem of the functioning of the images in private collections. The investigation was performed by visiting mostly parish churches. An analysis of their inventories is presented. In these documents, information about works of art that have not survived is presented. This analysis tellingly supplements current information.
