- Abstract
The Native American literature of Quebec evolves on the fringe of Quebec's literature as a whole. The aesthetic choices of Native American authors seem to embrace the general movement that characterizes numerous national literatures, passing from the promotion of a particularism established towards and against the "White Man", to a progressive opening to the Other. The literary itinerary of Bernard Assiniwi is particularly revealing in this way. This article's main focus is to demonstrate, through a formal and a thematic analysis, the central role of utopia in the novel La saga des Béothuks, as related to the integration of a continental, or even transcultural, feeling of identity.
