The article presents a study which examined a method for the preparation of polyaluminocarbosilane (PACS). It found that polydimethyl-silane (PDMS) dissociated during pyrolysis to generate silicon free radicals. It noted that some of the free-radical fragments generated by the cleavage of oxygen-carbon bonds continued to react with the silicon free radicals and were incorporated into the structural units of PACS.
