- Abstract
I El Buzo i ( I The Diver i ) is both a short documentary about the everyday life of infrastructure in Mexico City, the fifth-largest city in the world and a compelling portrait of a diver who specializes in sewage water diving. The film's main character, Julio César Cu Cámara, works to maintain this city's sewer infrastructure, which the film tells us has a history of flooding. I El Buzo i dialogues more seamlessly - topically and aesthetically - with current Latin American art cinema films focusing on class dynamics and social issues, including Mexico's own Lila Avilés's directorial debut, [2] or several of New York-based Mexican filmmaker Nicolás Pereda's works.
