Craig Lucas: Playwright with a movie in him.
- Authors
Esther, John
- Abstract
The article presents an interview with playwright Craig Lucas, who debuts as director for the film, "The Dying Gaul," which is adapted from his play of the same title. Lucas gives his views on the Republican Party, political correctness, alternative queer cinema, and the artist's responsibility in representing gay characters. The tragic story that he tells in "The Dying Gaul" shows how people justify their actions when it comes to betrayal and greed. Lucas believes that people go to movies and read books so they can examine the challenges that have to be overcome in the human experience and learn to live better lives themselves.
