- Abstract
The article discusses research on haemorrhagic syndrome and acute renal failure due to the toxin of caterpillars. It references a study by Miguel C. Riella of the Hospital Universitario Evangelico de Curitiba in Brazil, published in the August 29, 2008 issue of "NDT Plus." The researchers observed a European female who accidentally touched caterpillars while visiting the National Park of Iguacu Falls in Brazil. They found that two Lonomia species provoked activation of the coagulation cascade.
