- Abstract
The article offers information about the formation and characteristics of English gemstones Blue John and jet that are presented at the Gem-A's 100th anniversary and conference in London, England. It states that Blue John, a rare type of fluorite or fluorspar, is formed during mineral crystallization. Moreover, the inclusions of the brittle mineral is influenced from the oil of compressed sea creatures. Meanwhile, jets are mainly found on the seashore as it is released by the natural erosion of shale banks.
