This article presents two aspects of the major outcomes of the research project " Definitional competence in the Costa Rican school students" inscribed in the Linguistic Research Institute are studied from the analysis parameters in 2.160 children definitions produced by children from first through sixth grade: a) content versus conventional idiosyncratic content and b) contextual and situational meaning autonomy.
