- Abstract
This article discusses a study conducted in Ethiopia that compares manual and multi-model pulse oximeter measurements for temperature and respiratory rate in malnourished children. The study found that the multi-model pulse oximeter provided lower temperature measurements and respiratory rates compared to manual measurements. This resulted in fewer children being classified as having a fever or tachypnea. The study also noted variation in measurement technique among different study nurses. The article explores the usability and acceptability of the device used in the study and highlights its potential in improving the management of pneumonia in children.
