- Title
Shock Wave Lithotripsy--A Problem of Technology or Technique?
- Authors
Lingeman, James D.
- Abstract
This article focuses on the declining number of urologists using shock wave lithotripsy in treating urinary tract calculi. Urologists are no longer considering this as an alternative treatment because of poorer outcomes achieved with the lithotriptors developed after the Dornier HM3 device. Lithotripsy evolved too quickly and has become less effective treatment due to its recent advancements that do not address problems associated with it.
