LA TAVOLA DI ANDREA DA MURANO (1486) NEL SANTUARIO ANTONIANO DI CAMPOSAMPIERO: Storia, committenza, restauro.
- Abstract
Here presented are the three contributions regarding the panel painted by Andrea da Murano (1486) preserved in the Anthonian sanctuary of Camposampiero in the well known ''Cell of Vision''. The panel, after whose restoration a technical report was issued (cf. Giorgio Socrate-Art and Restoration), was exhibited from June until October 9 in the Chapel of the relics of the Basilica del Santo (cf. Nicola Galiazzo). On June 9, it was officially presented in Padua and was only returned to its original location (Camposampiero) on October 22. A report (cf. Giovanna Baldissin Molli) aimed at reconstructing the activity of the painter Andrea da Murano, whose activity in Venice spanned in the mid-fifteenth century, disappearing for about ten years (during which he continued his works in the Dalmatian area) and then resurfacing in the Venetian area where he received the commission of various altar-pieces. His work can be traced back to the iconographic modulations precious to the Franciscan Observance in its golden age. This makes more understandable his role in the convent of Camposampiero, where the Observance had settled in the early fifteenth century. An attempt is also made to reconstruct the possible client for the panel in question (cf. Elda Martellozzo Forin) by investigating its economic, geographical and religious context. The possible client might have been moderately affluent, coming from a middle class, and who might have had close links to the devout world of the same Franciscan Observance.
