- Abstract
The article presents a case study of the translation of a poem written by Mahakavi Bharathiar, from Indian into English language. It is noted that a good translation must characterize adequacy and faithfulness, requiring translators to prepare themselves with knowledge and understanding that would clarify the meaning, intention, idea and purpose of the original author. A brief background of the Indian poet is provided. A translator is advised to make revisions that are not against the original intent of the original writer.
