- Title
Rule of Law and Raison d'Etat: Julian Assange Must be Released.
- Authors
PESCHOUX, CHRISTOPHE
- Abstract
An open letter to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights argues for the release of Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks. The letter claims that Assange has committed no crime and that his only fault is revealing the crimes of powerful individuals. It criticizes the American wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and accuses the United States of covering up these crimes while punishing Assange for publishing evidence of them. The letter also questions the fairness of Assange's trial and expresses concern for his safety. It calls on the High Commissioner to speak out in defense of Assange and press for his freedom.
