- Abstract
The article discusses about the study of Colorado Desert by geologist-mineralogist William Phipps Blake in California. He found out that the name Colorado Desert was given to connect the name of Colorado River with the region. He discovered the white color produced by a calcareous incrustation forming a water line, and learned from the native inhabitants about the ancient lake Cahuilla, which gave him the idea to supply irrigation with Colorado River for large-scale agricultural development.
