The article studies the savannas on the Island of Hawaii. This study investigates and attempts to characterize the vegetation of certain savannas on the island with respect to similarity or uniqueness, and possible relationships to other tropical areas or mid-latitude continental regions. Sites were selected for physiognomic similarity of the vegetation and differences in the physical environment in order to meet the goals noted.
