- Title
Sonny's virtues: the gender negotiations of Miami Vice.
- Authors
King, Scott Benjamin
- Abstract
The article presents a discussion on gender display in the television show in "Miami Vice." Unlike "Charlie's Angels," "Miami Vice" presents the male as a mannequin. The image of Sonny which emits eroticism or visual sexuality was the focus of the television program in the U.S. It is stated that "Miami Vice" is one of the first programs in the country that defined man through his looks and not what he sees. Feminization was also seen in the character of Sonny as he wore fine clothes and used expensive cars.
